I’m Back and Blogging.

I never really left WordPress. I’ve just been writing privately. I didn’t know how to pick up after I was sacked in Illinois and had to beg, borrow, and contemplate theft to get myself and my possessions back to Texas. Ive discovered a good way. Learn my lessons, take the lumps, and move on with all the blessings God provides.

What’s happened from March to June?

I got a job. Thank you to Marty Wysocki, who referred me to a guy who knew someone at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, LP. They’re a large General Contractor based in San Antonio with offices in Austin and Houston. I am in my third week as an Estimator living in a hotel and working in San Antonio. I transfer to the Houston office permanently in August. I’ve never met a nicer group of people all in one company. Never. It’s about 50% Ags, 30% ‘Sips, and the other 20% from various other schools.
Because I know you’ll ask, my job consists of taking blueprints for partially completed building designs and a unit-cost price list then working out how much I think the various parts of a building will cost. It’s a blast.
Did I mention they offered me 12% more than I asked for? My salary is 180% of what I was making at the software company. I’m naturally thrilled. God Provides.

The Wedding Planning is on like Donkey Kong. I don’t even know what that mean, but we’re 45 days away and Michelle and I have finished about 80% of our list of tasks to get everything ready. the gifts are starting to roll in. I never thought I’d be addicted to bedbathandbeyond.com, but I am.

We have an Apartment reserved. Michelle and I arrive back from our super-secret honeymoon destination and get to move all of our stuff to the third floor of Stone Mist Apartments in Northwest Houston.

Just as important, Michelle started her career with HP. I know she’s an accountant/financial analyst, but everything else she says is a mish mash of financial jargon, three letter acronyms and gobbledegook.
It doesn’t matter. I’m still so proud of her I could bust my buttons.

I quit playing The World of Warcraft. I levelled Kaeb, my night Elf rogue, to 70, started really enjoying how much I was destroying in PvE and PvP again, and realized that it was beginning to take up all my free time. Again.
I was cheating Michelle out of phone time and attention and decided I had to quit. I went Cold Turkey, with only one 5 hour relapse and have been clean for 2 months and counting. Counting the time I played in the beta tests, I had over 115 DAYS of playing time across all my characters in about 2 years. Insanity.

I’ve decided to get in better shape. At the height of my beer and Coke guzzling, order pizza so I can raid instead of cook, sit in a chair all day habits, I hit 335 lbs. (I’m 6′ 5″ tall.) That was Mid-june last year.
I’ve been drinking lots more water, exercising portion control, and rarely drink beer any more. I haven’t been that much more active, but I’m already down to 281 lbs. as of today. I feel better every day, but I’m still very out of shape.

I’ve decided to start running and doing sit-ups to try and get myself in better shape for my bride-to-be. Ive started a nike+ profile to help me get motivated. If there’s anything that motivates a Geek to run, it’s using his iPod for a pedometer/calorimeter. (and the chance of maybe actually having sex. Don’t worry, The 27-Year Old Virgin is a horrible idea for a screenplay. That’s the probably last time I even mention it here. maybe.)
My best so far is a 20 minute mile. (Don’t laugh I haven’t run more than 10 yards in about 3 years.) I used to run them in 5′ in High School, so I’ve got room for improvement, even if that was a decade ago.

If I can get this nike+ thing working on WordPress, a little thing to track my progress will show up on my new page: One Tubby-Tubby! Two Tubby-Tubby!
If I can’t, I’ll still post updates on occasion so you can congratulate me in the comments and keep me motivated. I need you, people. Seriously.

It’s good to be back. I missed y’all.
